SHARING STRATEGIES FOR THE INCLUSION OF PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

In order to address our training needs, in terms of the work we do with people with special needs, and our EU development strategies needs, we decided to create a Consortium of entities from Italy and participate in an international mobility project. The Consortium is formed by Futuro Digitale, Let’s Keep Learning, TIA Formazione, New Horizons and Jump In. Two adult trainers or managers from each consortium member will attend the course. The hosting partner for the training course that we chose, after considering several entities, was the Spanish NGO Permacultura Cantabria. The course will last 10 days and it will follow an active, inclusive and collaborative approach, where all participants’ voices will be heard and teamwork encouraged. The learning experience is founded in the examples, good practices, methods, skills, etc implemented in Spain, in topics related to the care and integration of adults with special needs. Our aim is to use them in our everyday work with this target group and their relatives. This project’s particular goals are:

1-Understand and know efficient examples of cooperation that encourage the empowerment and inclusion, in the employment market, of people with special needs.

2 -Gain knowledge of specific methods and techniques to enhance the welfare of people with special needs and their health.

3-To pay a deep attention and try to fully comprehend the needs and concerns of the relatives of adults with special needs and how they are addressed in Cantabria. Apart from educating our staff and managers in the good practices of work with people with special needs that are performed in Cantabria, the project pretends to discover efficient examples of cooperation between entities and relatives in the private and public sectors and with several actors (institutions, enterprises, educational centers), which are committed to the welfare of people with disabilities. Thus, at the same time that our participating adult trainers gain new abilities to enhance the value of their everyday work, they will acquire certain knowledge and attitudes to improve and upd ate the services offered by their organizations, towards the disabled and their relatives. The project will also offer the opportunity to improve and increase our entities’ awareness raising skills and advocacy instruments, to be used in future campaigns about the relevance of including people with special needs, both socially and in the labour market. Several secondary activities have been planned, so as to enhance and better integrate the learning results: -A meeting between the management team of each consortium member and their participants, after the course. It will serve to verify in what degree the learning plan and the strategic development plan Call 2019 Round 1 KA1 – Learning Mobility of Individuals KA104 – Adult education staff mobility FormId KA104-F83E9037 Deadline (Brussels Time) 12 Feb 2019 12:00:00 EN 71 / 74 was achieved. -Another meeting, 2 weeks after returning from the course, with the management team in each entity, where participating adult trainers will assess what they have learnt and consider which new services or methods they could apply in their entities, in their work with disabled people. -An internal workshop will be carried out, one month after the activity, by the participating adult trainers, to provide the rest of the staff with the newly acquired knowledge and ideas. -Also during this workshop, there will be a space to establish a Commission, in order to build new partnerships and relations with other organizations and relatives. -Once the project is finished, in order to manage and coordinate the project’s results dissemination campaign, there will be Skype meetings every 3 months. We expect the project to have a valuable impact on our staff, in terms of their professional development, enhancing their knowledge and skills, in terms of working, training, including and caring for the welfare of adults with special needs, and supporting their families. It is also expected that this course, in an international setting, will boost their commitment, selfassessment and motivation to their work and their entities. In the short term, this project’s results and the learnings and skills acquired in it are expected to assist in the modernization of the entities involved and the updating of their services and initiatives for their disabled u sers and their relatives. Ultimately, we expect this project to enhance the welfare of the adults with special needs or disabled, and support their independence and inclusion in society and the labour market.
