European Tourism Day, 5 May 2020 in Brussels – EVENT POSTPONED

Important information: in line with the measures of the European Commission regarding Covid-19, the event has been postponed. The new date will be communicated.

The twelfth European Tourism Day will take place on 5 May 2020 in Brussels. This year’s edition, organized under the topic “European tourism – leading to a greener future” will concentrate on tourism and the European Union’s climate as well as on sustainable development goals.

Among four hundred participants expected to attend this year the European Tourism Day, there will be representatives of the European Institutions, public authorities, specialist from industry associations, representatives of universities, etc.

During the event the European Destinations of Excellence (EDEN) will be awarded. EDEN is an initiative launched in 2006 by the European Commission which aims at the promotion of sustainable tourism through the annual selection of European destinations in European countries. Since tourism and travel industry constitutes a very important sector of the European economy and a relevant source of employment in many EU member states, the European Union focuses on various priorities in order to increase the tourism demand, improve the products, services and enhance the sustainable tourism¹.
